Nin
Zadar
The plan
Nin
The old town sits on a small island in a shallow lagoon, reached by stone bridges. Nin was a seat of early Croatian kings; see the tiny church of the Holy Cross and the statue of Bishop Gregory of Nin. Nearby are the salt pans and long sandy beaches.
Zadar old town
The Roman forum, the round church of St Donatus and the cathedral of St Anastasia, all within a few minutes' walk.
Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun
On the tip of the peninsula, the waves push air through pipes under the stone steps and the sea plays its own music. Next to it, a large glass circle of solar panels lights up after dark.
Good to know
Return to Split is by 22:00, so in midsummer you see the evening light on the waterfront rather than the full sunset. In spring and early autumn the sunset fits easily.
